Gigi (Owner & Artistic Director)

Gigi started his career in Yugoslavia in 1977. He worked hard pursuing his dream of hair styling while in Europe and continually won competitions in Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout the late 1980's and early 1990's. His cutting edge hairstyles and skilled techniques landed him in the top ten rank among 800 other stylists from around the globe.

In 1993, Gigi moved to the United States to further pursue his career and obtained a position at the Jeffrey Stein Salon in Manhattan where he progressively became one of the owners. After many years with Jeffrey Stein, Gigi pursued his goal of opening his own salon that perfectly captures everything he loves about hair styling.

He opened Gigi Salon & Styling Studio, an Aveda Concept salon, in January 2006. Gigi has dedicated his time since its opening to building an all star styling team and teaching talent at his Astoria salon. He is an advanced educator in hair care and coloring and pushes for his team to learn and master the most up-to-date styling techiniques. Gigi has worked through many New York City fashion weeks, styling hair for the models of well known designers.

Additionally, Gigi views himself as an environmental activist, and his visions became a reality when Gigi Salon & Styling Studio had their grand re-opening as Queen's first green salon in late 2009.

Artur (Assistant)

Originally from Poland Artur joined the Gigi Salon & Styling Studio team after graduating from the AVEDA Carstein Institute in New York City. Artur is an assistant hair stylist for the salon, particulary with photgraphic and commercial productions.

Edita (Senior Stylist)

Edita is one of the upcoming stylists a with a fasionable touch. Her passion for hair and patience gives her clients trust and a unique image for every occasion.

Kristina (Artistic Team)

Kristina is a passionate stylist that has been an important part of the styling team since the salon opened.

She came to the salon with fifteen years of experience between Croatia and New York. She loves being a stylist and finds it very rewarding to make people happy and feel beautiful.

The phrase "do what you enjoy and you will never work a day in your life" is something Kristina has found to be very true!

Lindsay (Senior Stylist)

Lindsay grew up in Rochester, New York where she attended cosmetology school in 2002. While in beauty school, she worked along side an experienced stylist learning advanced cutting and coloring techniques.

In 2005, Lindsay started working for Chi Wah Aveda Lifestyle Salon as a stylist. While working for this company, she took many classes at Aveda education centers, attended Aveda Congress in 2005, and took an advanced cutting course at the Vidal Sassoon Academy.

Lindsay moved to New York City in 2007 and started working for Frederic Fekkai Salon in Manhattan. After moving to Astoria, she discovered Gigi Salon and Spa and has joined the styling team.

Lorin Yankle(Senior Stylist)

Lorin entered the beauty industry 7 years ago. After graduating beauty school, she was able to train with several renowned stylists at Vidal Sassoon, Aveda ,and TIGI.

Since moving to New York from Ohio 2 years ago, she has participated in 2008 fashion week as well as editorial shoots for Giant Magazine.

Nem (Designer Stylist)

Nem is a designer stylist with 14 years of experience. He attended school in Belgrade where he worked for six years in some of the most prestigious salons. After gaining valuable experience and a unique sense of style, he opened his own salon in Bar-Montenegro. To add to his wide range of skill, Nem also worked in salons around Italy and on cruise ships. He has participated in styling hair for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York and continues his involvement in the world of hair and fashion. Nam is an amazing stylist with all different types of experience that makes him unique and gorgeous!

Vicky (Senior Stylist)

Vicky's passion for her career has been developed overseas and in Gigi Salon.She has served as an instructor at a cosmetology school in Athens Greece, as well as hair stylist.

Her continuing education has included classes at L'Oreal Paris and she derives her inspiration daily with the opportunity to create and deliver beautiful styles for over 11 years.

Mandeep ( Stylist)

Mandeep Kaur is a 23 year old junior stylist here at Gigi's Salon & Styling Studio. She is originally Indian but recently moved from Portland, Oregon to the Big Apple. She's been a stylist for 4 and a half years and loves everything about what she does, especially with the awesome team here at Gigi's Salon. She is great with cuts and color and enjoys doing both. She always has a blast working with new styles and colors.
